title: Homage to Georges Seurat
in collaboration with: Federico Caporal
description: The installation examines chromatic perception as translated in digital language. Each pixel of color is converted into a hexadecimal sequence. The codes are updated in real time based on the image that is captured by the webcam. The codes are then mirrored onto six glass panes, allowing us to visualize reality as interpreted by the computer. The installation is an homage to Georges Seurat, the father of pointillism, who split images into portions of color, much in the same way monitors work. This project is a result of a dynamic development started in 2007 by Mauro Ferrario and Federico Caporal. The study links three levels of perceived reality: objective, sensorial and the encryption of machine language.
